The rate of growth is the number of cm she grows per month on average. It is the slope. This is an incredibly important concept.

You already identified the formula for converting between units: 1 cm = .3937in. You can multiply the number of cm you have by a rational expression which is equal to 1 and which will cleverly convert the units. For instance, 255.9cm X (.3937in/1cm). The result will make sense because it is a smaller number of inches than the number of cm you started with. Do the same thing to convert from inches to phone, multiplying by (1ft/12in).

Re: the -2.08. If the results are normally distributed, we can find out how unusual the results are by finding the proportion of the distribution which is more extreme than our observation. Draw the curve. Find the proportion of the population with z values less than -2.08.
